The Sticking Place

Fellini’s 8½

Mackendrick described Federico Fellini’s 1963 film as “a marvellously witty piece of work. It is clever to a degree that is mischievous. The objective story, the problems if the movie that the director (Marcello Mastroianni) is trying to make, are never satisfactorily resolved. It seems that the movie production is abandoned, but the joke is on us, since what we are left with is the much more personal movie which we have just seen, the one made by the other director, Fellini himself.” Here for the handout.
