Ken Campbell
Décor Without Production
The Royal Court’s rich tradition of improvisation (led by George Devine and Keith Johnstone in the 1960s and 1970s) inspired Ken Campbell to devise an anarchic, satirical exploration of the Royal Court play through spontaneous theatre antics.
With his regular team of actors and musicians, Ken embarked upon improvisational challenges, themed by the history of famous and infamous Royal Court plays and writers.
Featuring outrageous theatre sports and improvised ‘lost’ scenes from plays by Harold Pinter, David Mamet, Caryll Churchill, John Osborne, Edward Bond, Arthur Miller, Samuel Beckett, Sarah Kane, Terry Johnson and Eugene Ionesco.
This irreverent late-night show was enjoyed by star-studded audiences including Warren Mitchell, Alan Rickman, David Tenant, Richard O’Brien, Terry Johnson, Max Stafford-Clark, Shane Connaughton, and Peter Gill.
‘A masterclass in improvisation.’
